Barry / KU3X will teach you the difference and show you how choosing and employing the right one can greatly benefit your signal strength. Everybody learns something when Barry delivers the material. If you don't know your unun from your balun, this program is for you! The April 1st DLARC Meeting Program: "Backyard Astrophotography." Let's tour the virtual observatories of George / N3SQD and Al / W3CE as they introduce us to their techniques and results of capturing amazing images that have fascinated human beings ever since the first one looked up at night. Behold the magnificence of the heavens as they share years of catalogued experience with us. Youngsters interested in space, science, and photography are especially encouraged to attend this presentation. The May 6th DLARC Meeting Program:
"The History Of the D.L.A.R.C." 63½ years ago, a group of less than 10 Hams met at the Student Union Building at Lafayette College and decided to form the D.L.A.R.C. Bill Van Horn / W3LTO, (now, K3CP) is the last surviving Member of that group. Mel Snyder / W3PYF has unearthed and catalogued mountains of documents, original motion picture, and traditional film from the earliest days of our Organization. Mel is coming all the way from Massachusetts to deliver this inspiring Program. Every one of our Members will benefit by either learning of, or contributing to the truth of the humble beginning of our legendary Radio Club, now among the oldest in the United States. If you only attend ONE presentation this year, this should be the one you don't miss. Be on time for a seat!
The June 3rd DLARC Meeting Program: "Army MARS Recruiting." MARS is a Department of Defense sponsored communication system that reports to FEMA through the DOD. Their mission is to support agencies in emergencies where HF communication, especially digital, is used for speed and accuracy. Learn how RMS, (an internet over HF system) is becoming the backbone for rapid movement of data and messages. There are opportunities for the seamless integration of communication systems through the EOC [800 Mhz, RACES, MARS] at central locations such as the EOC's where we hope to integrate MARS stations with the current RACES set up. Mel (AAR3HA) W3SQ will show how YOU can be a part of this system, and even earn a unique callsign!
The July 1st DLARC Meeting Program:
"Tracking & Resolving RFI." Ericsson RF Engineer, Ben Ramig / KB3CTX has years of experience tracking down stubborn Radio Frequency Interference for Sprint Nextel. His discipline with 800 and 900 MHz systems have resulted in identifying and locating widely varying sources of interference, such as defective cordless phones, baby monitors, dirty broadcast transmitters, wireless cameras, cellphone amplifiers, and even jammers. Using a spectrum analyzer, ultrasonic receiver, and parabolic reflector, Ben will even show us Direction Finding techniques to locate the origins of offending signals. These lessons are very practical for the average ham!
The August 5th DLARC Meeting Program:
"ARRL Technical Coordinator." Joe Dozpat / WA3UVP is our guest this evening as he describes his duties as the League Technical Coordinator for the Eastern Pennsylvania Section, as well as the Technical Specialists in the EPA group. Whether you are an ARRL Member or not, learn how their important work benefits us every day. See you at 7:30!
The September 2nd DLARC Meeting Program: "Kitbuilding For Everyone." Impressed with those who build their own radios? BE that guy! From the days of Heathkit, to the mighty modern Elecraft K3, amateur kitbuilding is alive and well, delivering a degree of satisfaction that is unmatched. DIY'er extraordinaire, Paul Ryan / N0KIA will teach us what it takes to produce a product with your own hands that will be the pride of your station, and the envy of others. Don't miss this presentation!
The October 7th DLARC Meeting Program:
"Welcome: CQ Magazine Publisher, Rich Moseson / W2VU." What is the most important aspect of Amateur Radio? What is it REALLY all about? Think you know? Our 2011 Special Guest Speaker, Rich Moseson / W2VU, publisher of CQ Amateur Radio Magazine, reminds us of what that is: "The people, the people, the people that you get to meet in this hobby. This is what ham radio is all about -- a PEOPLE hobby in which we use technology to meet and make friends with other PEOPLE!" Join us to meet Rich, and start your own list of legendary people who are part of our favorite activity!
The November 4th DLARC Meeting Program: "Electronic Missile Guidance Systems." Electronic packages and sub assemblies are supplied to Raytheon Missile Systems, (RMS) and other OEM's such as Lockheed Martin, and so on. They buy the component parts at the highest level of integration possible. RMS "Tucson" manufactures the Tactical Tomahawk, capable of loitering over its target, and guided by a TV camera. SM6 is the latest over-the-horizon interceptor that utilizes these systems. Mel, "I love the smell of Plutonium in the morning!" WS3Q, will show video of test strikes, and bad guys getting theirs'! (Due to graphic content, viewer discretion is strongly advised.)
The December 2nd DLARC Meeting Program: "Annual Christmas Party." Arguably the most anticipated 'Program' of the year, it is also historically the best attended. No one goes home unsatisfied or without a gift. 2010 'Best Of' Awards will be conferred on many deserving Members in numerous categories. Bring a dish or desert to share, soft drinks or paper goods. Four weeks to go before your New Years' Resolution. "Hams come in; Pigs go out!"
