2010 DLARC Meeting Schedule

Meetings start at 7:30 pm and are the first Thursday of the month

The January 7th DLARC Meeting Program:

"PA Turnpike Radio Systems." Public Communications infrastructure is transparent to most people, and taken for granted unless a catastrophic failure raises our consciousness of how they serve us while we safely navigate our areas busiest highways and corridors. C.R. Phillips / N3HTZ reveals the RF architecture of what it takes to keep things orderly on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Join us to learn how this is accomplished!

The February 4th DLARC Meeting Program:

"Club Mini-Hamfest." Contact Howard / WO3P (ex: KB3RTB) to reserve your $8 table that may be shared. < This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it > The $100 item limit has been lifted to promote a good selection of BETTER gear being offered. Transactions may begin immediately after Business Meeting adjourns around 8pm. Sellers may arrive and setup before Meeting. The kitchen will be open serving lite fare and refreshments to warm you up, and doorprizes will be awarded to those qualified. So, supply a new ham with that good gear you don't use anymore and maybe find that elusive bargain!

The March 4th DLARC Meeting Program:

"Baluns Demystified." Do you know what a balun is and what it does? What's a 1:1, 4:1, and 8:1 mean? Barry / KU3X will teach you the difference and show you how choosing and employing the right one can greatly benefit your signal strength. Everybody learns something when Barry delivers the material. If you don't know your unun from your balun, this program is for you!

The April 1st DLARC Meeting Program:

"Backyard Astrophotography." Let's tour the virtual observatories of George / N3SQD and Al / W3CE as they introduce us to their techniques and results of capturing amazing images that have fascinated human beings ever since the first one looked up at night. Behold the magnificence of the heavens as they share years of catalogued experience with us. Youngsters interested in space, science, and photography are especially encouraged to attend this presentation.

The June 3rd DLARC Meeting Program:

"Fastscan Amateur Television." Did you know that besides radio, Tech Class hams have privileges to operate their own TV Stations and may transmit their own live, moving TV pictures? Did you know there is ATV activity right here in the Lehigh Valley? How about a local ATV repeater? If you own a UHF radio + antenna and a camera that shoots video, you already have nearly everything you need to participate. Our guest speaker, Charles / K3IKJ has decades of experience on this mode, and will demonstrate how easy it is to see you on the radio!
