RACES/ARES As of September 2006, NIMS IS-700 and ICS-100 course certifications are required for on site participation in RACES emergency operations. At this time, there are no training courses scheduled for Northampton County. However, these courses can be taken on line by going to www.fema.gov and following the directions given there. These courseswill require several hours of your time, but do not need to be taken in one sitting. The NIMS certification is not required to participate in the weekly Wednesday evening ARES, RACES and D.L.A.R.C. Net. The only requirement for this net is a valid amateur radio license and an interest in emergency communications.
